Malaysia Airlines this week has signed a new agreement with Tourism Australia to help promote travel to the destination by its travellers under a brand new ?Only in Oz? campaign.
Exclusive airfares and land-packages will be sold through the airline, and will be targeting those wishing to travel who have never before been to Australia.
?We see Malaysia as a very important market for Australia, given its vibrant aviation scene and a young population with a high propensity to travel,? said Maggie White, Tourism Australia Regional General Manager for South/South East Asia and Gulf Countries.
?Traditionally, we have seen more Chinese travellers from Malaysia, but the Malay segment is definitely one with huge potential, and we are going to do more to ensure that Australia gets into the consideration set amongst this segment of travellers.?
Malaysia is currently the seventh largest inbound market for arrivals to Australia, and in 2009 alone, Australia saw Malaysian 211,500 visitors.
Malaysia Airlines will also use the opportunity to help promote its direct services to the five Australian cities of Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane.
