Check-in and luggage allowance:
Checking in 3 hours before the flight always ensures a quick and easy process. The attendant at the web check in counter processed my details in a professional but friendly manner, which I thought was a very nice start to my Malaysian Airlines experience. Only travelling for 4 days, I was well below the luggage allowance of 20kgs.
Lounge access:
Even though I was flying economy, our group headed up by Malaysia Airlines and Tourism Malaysia had pre-organized lounge access in Sydney Airport. The well-sized lounge, now on the other side of the International Terminal is a good reprieve after the long walk. With a ?noodle? menu to choose from, I opted for the traditional Vegetarian Laksa which was served fresh.
Seat/Cabin conditions:
Malaysia Airline?s Boeing 747-400 sees pitch of 34? and seat width 17?, with the cabin laid out in 3-4-3 exception being the last three rows of 2-4-2.
Meal and snack service:
Peanuts were the snack upon arrival, which was followed quickly by the dinner service. Since I opted for a vegetarian meal, I was served before my fellow passengers. The cous-cous salad with chickpeas was surprisingly very good, as was the vegetable lasagna, though ironically had cheese but for dessert, while everyone received cheese and crackers, I had fruit. We then all received ice cream bars. Before landing I was served a vegetarian roll, with a muesli bar.
Entertainment:
Gone are the days of one large screen and thankfully, we can all welcome video-on-demand! The MH Entertainment Select is available on each seatback, and with its 6 inch screen, travellers can choose from a variety of new releases and older programmes. Seeing as I was ?Up in the Air?, I picked it for my first film and was content with the choice.
On-time performance:
Leaving on time, we arrived Kuala Lumpur at approximately 8:30pm
Flight frequency:
MH122 flies from Sydney to Kuala Lumpur daily
