Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture continues with his series of staying connected staff meetings

(Forimmediaterelease.net) In line with his vision to remain connected with staff within the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, the Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St.Ange, is continuing with his series of section staff meetings. The meetings started last week with staff at the National Arts Council and should end next week.

In one of the series of meetings with the National Archives Section, Minister St.Ange reiterated his ministry’s open-door policy to ensure that staff welfare is dealt with efficiently.

Minister St.Ange said that his ministry believed in dialogue within the ministry, the respect for the workers, and for the work being discharged by all staff within the different sections. The Minister spoke about team work and for the need to continuously be following the Ministry’s area of responsibility by head of sections and by the management team.

“As a ministry you will bear witness to many changes. The amalgamation from the Ministry of Culture to that of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture requires adaption. I strongly believe that constant dialogue, being well updated on what is happening, and the policy of constant communication within staff and management teams is fundamental for the efficient running of the ministry. I believe that we all need to be together to ensure the success of the ministry and to ensure that staff are happy and satisfied with the decision-making process within the ministry and that they all remain happy with the way the ministry is being run,” Minister St.Ange said.

After only a couple of months in office, Minister St.Ange’s approach to staff welfare hasbeen noticed. He has adopted an open-door policy and instigated meetings with not only his staff members, but meets on a regular basis with heads of sections, with the primary aim being to listen to their concerns. This approach has been his forte. Minister St.Ange said at the different staff meetings that he felt that it was important for him to meet with all his staff as the end of the year was fast approaching to remain connected with their needs and with their aspirations.

In regard to the National Archives, Minister St.Ange touched on comments received from the public at large and asked for staff to reflect on the points raised. He has also explained at different meetings taking place to relook at salary grids and general working conditions.

Minister St.Ange, who was personally chairing all the different staff meetings, was accompanied at the head table by the Principal Secretary of Culture, Ms. Benjamine Rose; the Director General for Culture, Mr. Marcel Rosalie; the Special Advisor to the Minister, Mrs. Raymonde Onezime; and the Director General of Administration and Finance, Mr. Alex Rath. They listened to the concerns of more than thirty staff in the National Archives Section.

In the presence of the Director for National Archives, Mr. Alain Lucas, the workers openly addressed their concerns to the Minister.

Following the National Archives meeting, the Minister and his team met with staff of the History and National Museums; staff from the Administration, Finance and Support Services; and the team from the National Libraries. These series of meetings are in preparation for the General Meeting of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture scheduled on December 17, 2012.
