BANGKOK, 18 March 2013: Bangkok Mass Transit Authority launched, late last week, new air-conditioned bus routes between Don Mueang Airport and two points in inner city; Mor Chit bus terminal and Victory Monument. The northern bus terminal has services to all the country’s tourist destinations including eastern seaboard Pattaya and all the main provincial towns. Victory Monument stands a crossroads in the heart of the city where the skytrain station links commuters to city buses and a mini-van fleets that serve provincial cities across the country. BMTA’s public relations division said the two routes will support both foreign and local tourists who need to travel to and from Don Mueang Airport from the city’s northern Mor Chit Bus Terminal (A1 route) and from the Victory Monument (A2 route). The A1 route runs from Don Mueang Airport via Vibhavadi Rangsit Road through Lat Phrao intersection then right to Phaholyothin Road passing the BTS Mor Chit station and right on Kamphaeng Phet II Road to the city’s main Mor Chit bus terminal that links with all provincial services. The A2 route is identical except it continues beyond Mor Chit sky train station to Victory Monument a distance of 8 km. A1 route operates 14 daily roundtrip services using up to eight buses, while the A2 route operates 20 daily roundtrip services with up to 10 buses. Services on both routes operate from 0900 to 2400 with a fare of Bt30 per person over the entire route. The new routes are part of a Ministry of Transport policy to broaden the appeal of the Don Mueang Airport and cut the cost of transfers by offering an alternative to taxis. Travellers should give themselves around one hour for the bus transfer from Mor Chit and 80 minutes from Victory Monument. The services stop at all bus stops along the routes. Sourced TTRWeekly
