BANGKOK, 27 March 2013: Thailand will organise a cultural show marking the birth and development of the present Rattanakosin period.
“Thailand Heritage Highlights”, will be organised 20 to 22 April at Rattanakosin historical district in Bangkok, where most of the city’s historical attractions are located.
It will focus on the Chakri Dynasty particularly King Rama I, King Phra Buddha Yodfa Chulaloke the Great who established Rattanakosin (Bangkok) 21 April 1782.
Culture Minister, Sontaya Khunplome, said the three-day event will present to Thais and the world the highlights of Thai history and culture.
It will cover arts and crafts, a multi-cultural parade as well as contemporary Thai culture such as street art, exhibition and outdoor cinema.”
To support the show, the Rattanakosin Exhibition Hall and the National Museum will remain open until 2000 throughout the show dates.
Initiated by the Ministry of Culture, the event has strong support from the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, the Crown Property Bureau and the National Police Office.
