May tourism should see boost

Tourism markets in Shanghai and the surrounding Yangtze River Delta region are expected to see a boom for the month of May compared with previous years thanks to the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai.
But the surge in tourists is expected to drop next month as the student demographic is likely to decline sharply as they prepare for the National College Entrance Exam taken annually in June.
Shanghai-bound airplane tickets remain relatively high for this time of year and hotels around the Expo Garden are averaging less than a 30-percent vacancy rate.
