Crystal Cruises has announced it will ban smoking in all indoor areas of its two ships, except for the Connoisseur Club smoking lounges.
The company said that outside smoking will be allowed though, in a limited number of designated spaces, according to a USA Today report.
The new policy will begin with Crystal’s first sailings in 2014, eliminating smoking in all cabins, lobby lounges and nightclubs, with Crystal President Gregg Michel saying the company has received considerable feedback on smoking, and that the company had listened.
“Our policies have evolved as lifestyles have changed," Mr Michael explained.
"The majority of our guests worldwide are non smoking, and travellers are used to more non smoking environments today."
He also said that many areas of Crystal ships have been non smoking for several years, including restaurants and main entertainment lounges and cabin balconies, though until now smoking had not been banned in cabin interiors, with Crystal eliminating smoking in casinos in 2013.
