BANGKOK- AirAsia will in October start connecting Thailand capital to Myanmar new capital city with direct flights from Bangkok to Nay Pyi Taw. The flight will served with an all-economy class Airbus A320, offering 180 seats. Promotional fares are proposed until September 8 for travel between October 28,2013 and August 5th, 2014. Tassapon Bijleveld, CEO of Thai AirAsia, remarked that business in Myanmar is growing at an exponential rate as it has become the main focus of the region and the world.  He pointed out that Thailand is a major trading partner with the country and its companies and investors continue to enter into Myanmar daily, especially into Nay Pyi Taw, the nation’s capital, with its political as well as economic significance.  AirAsia has acknowledged that opening a route between Bangkok and Nay Pyi Taw would be crucial to fostering Myanmar’s financial development and the economic ties between Thailand and its neighbour.“AirAsia is the first and only low-fare airline to serve this route from Don Mueang Airport.  We will be operating the 1 hour flights with our 180-seat fleet of brand-new Airbus A320s so that our passengers can always be confident they will receive the utmost in comfort, safety and cost effectiveness. The flights will depart from Don Mueang Airport, making them especially convenient for travelers coming from the city”, said Mr. Bijleveld. Nay Pyi Taw is the third destination in Myanmar served by Thai AirAsia following the launch of flights to Bagan back to 2004 and to Mandalay in October 2012. The airline has recently announced to fly also from this October to Siem Reap in Cambodia. It plans to reopen its flight to Khon Kaen in Isan from October.
