Thai AirAsia X, Thailand’s first low-cost, long-haul carrier will launch daily flights from Bangkok (Don Mueang Airport) to Seoul Incheon International Airport 17 June.
Speaking at the official launch of Thai AirAsia X, Tuesday, the airline CEO Nadda Buranasiri said the new airline will offer more choices and travel opportunity for travellers.
“While Thai AirAsia’s Airbus A320 planes continue to offer the connectivity for short-hual destinations within the country and region, Thai AirAsia X will operate Airbus A330-300 wide-body aircraft to destinations beyond a four-hour flight time from Bangkok Don Mueang Airport.”

The low-cost, long-hual carrier will launch its first commercial flight from Bangkok to Seoul Incheon 17 June.
“The route will benefit both Thai and Korean. Last year, visitors from South Korea ranked among the top five nationalities to Thailand at 1.3 million trips and we are very proud to offer more seat capacity on the route to boost tourism.”
Mr Nadda added: “Due to South Korea’s visa exemption agreement for Thai passport holders, Seoul is an accessible and affordable destination for many Thai people. Last year, approximately 400,000 Thais travelled to Seoul.”
Thai AirAsia X’s daily flight to Seoul will be operated by Airbus A330-300 aircraft, with a total of 377 seats–365 in economy class and 12 Premium Flatbed seats.
The airline will use the same low-cost model as AirAsia. Passengers will be able to buy add-ons such as hot meals, comfort kits, baggage supersize options, preferred seats with extra leg room, premium flatbed seats and seats in a quiet zone where there is minimal noise and less disturbance. All features are surcharge options on the quoted base fare.
“Besides the Bangkok-Seoul route, we also aim to operate direct flights between Bangkok to Tokyo Narita and Osaka Kansai in July. More details will be announced later,” he said adding that flights to China and Australia would be considered next year.
Currently, the airline has a fleet of two Airbus A330-300s to serve the three routes.
