AirAsia expands China network

SEPANG : AirAsia X is expanding services in China with the introduction of its latest direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Chongqing early next year; its sixth destination in the country.
The airline serves Hangzhou, Chengdu, Beijing, Shanghai and Xi’An.
AirAsia Group will soon commence four weekly flights to Jiangbei International Airport, Chongqing from Kuala Lumpur, beginning 13 February 2015 . It will be the only airline offering direct flights between the two cities.
In conjunction with the launch, the airline is offering a promotional all-in-fare from as low as MYR199* (CNY488*) on economy and MYR799* (CNY1,888*) on its business class to Chongqing one way.
Bookings are open online from 5 August to 10 August 2014 for travel between 13 February 2015 and 31 July 2015.
AirAsia X commercial director, Bernard Francis, said: “The addition of the Kuala Lumpur – Chongqing route enables us to further strengthen our route network in China.”
“AirAsia X is very positive about our growth in China… We carried 2.7 million passengers to date to and from China with an average passenger load of 82%. With Chongqing, we expect to see our revenue increase 17% with more than 1 million passengers this year.”
The city is the starting point for the popular Yangtze River Cruise, which explores the stunning scenery of the Three Gorges.
