BURI RAM  Thai AirAsia will start daily flights connecting Bangkok (Don Mueang Airport) with Buri Ram effective 2 April.
The airline’s commercial director, Santisuk Klongchaiya, said since the start of 2015 the airline has been adding domestic flights to strengthen its network of connections.
“Don Mueang-Buri Ram is the fourth new route since the beginning of the year after Thai AirAsia began flights to the three provinces of Nan, Loei and Roi Et simultaneously and saw strong response, as evidenced by high advanced bookings.”
He said: “Don Mueang-Buriram is a route that AirAsia has been waiting to introduce for sometime as it builds on the airline’s connection and taps a sporting fervor that has developed over the past two to three years focusing on northeast town.”
Buri Ram is one of the places chosen for the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s “Cities That Can’t Be Missed” campaign as it has a variety of attractions some linked to sports.
It is home to historical ruins dating back to the Khmer period such as Panom Rung Castle as well as Mueang Tum Castle, landmarks that draws many visitors each year.
Buri Ram also has a motor sports stadium and is home to a leading Thai football team, Buriram United, that plays in the Thai Premier League.
The airline will use an Airbus A320s with 180 seats on the route.
