The perfect way to explore two cities at once with Vietjet

It’s the time of the year again to start planning your family vacation. So why not take advantage of Vietjet’s great value air fares and take off further afield to over 30 great destinations in Asia. With an additional daily flight by Vietjet from Singapore to Ho Chi Minh City starting operations at the end of May, connecting to onward destinations from the latter has never been easier. It is the perfect way to plan a dual destination trip for your loved ones this school holidays.

In December 2014, Vietjet officially operated its debut flight connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Taipei, offering travellers easier opportunities to explore the city. Vietjet has also announced that it will increase the frequency of this route from five to seven round trips a week, effective 18 June 2015.

Whilst Taipei may not spring to mind as a destination to bring the kids along, the city is indeed a place of surprises, and a trip here is sure to be filled with plenty of things to see and do for your entire family. But first, take a day or two to explore the true cosmopolitan life of Vietnam before you head over to Taipei for some family action.

Once you arrive in Ho Chi Minh City and with only a short period of time to sightsee, start your day by exploring the true heart of the city on a cyclo tour. The traditional cyclo is a three-wheeled bicycle with a carriage at the front for the passenger to sit in, while the driver uses pedal power to move you along. You and your kids will be able to easily take in the sights, sound and smell of iconic places in the city such as the Reunification Palace, Ben Thanh Market and the War Remnants Museum all at once. A must-have in your itinerary!

If you feel you have fully immersed yourself in the Vietnamese culture, take your kids’ curious minds to experience another vibrant city – Taipei! VietJet currently operate five round trips with a flight capacity of 1,800 seats per week, between Ho Chi Minh City and Taipei from Monday to Sunday (excluding Thursday and Saturday). The flight departs Tan Son Nhat International Airport at 2.30pm (local time) and Taipei Songshan Airport at 8.00pm (local time).

Whilst in the city, the Taipei Zoo really is a must visit for your little ones. They’ve seen pandas on television, in books and if you still haven’t caught them in Singapore, you can still visit them in person in Taipei. The zoo is one of the most visited tourist destinations on the island and with good reason. The site sprawls an impressive 165 hectares and showcases a wide variety of different environments. Its great value for money and is conveniently located close to an MRT station, meaning your kids won’t have to walk too far before coming face to face with their favourite animals.

A short shuttle ride from the zoo is the Maokong Gondola, the perfect way to begin or end your day. Kids will love the views from their own suspended cabin as it whisks you straight from the zoo up into the rolling hills of the North. The Gondola is another in-expensive treat for all in the family to enjoy and affords exceptional surroundings as your personal bubble gently bobs its way from the city centre all the way into the verdant uplands.

A visit to Taiwan could never be complete without taking in the stark silhouette of the Taipei 101, one of the tallest skyscrapers in the world. Be amazed at the scale and sophistication of the bamboo-inspired mega structure and see the kids gaze in wonder at the seemingly endless floors, ascending over 500m from the ground.

Last but not least, don’t leave without a visit to Taipei’s number one attraction, The National Palace Museum. A great way to educate the kids, the museum is home to the world’s largest and finest collection of Chinese art. The range of historical artefacts on display is truly outstanding, and definitely not one to be missed.

Vietjet currently operates 150 flights per day with a fleet of 25 Airbus aircraft across 30 routes domestically and internationally. Boasting a new and modern fleet, Vietjet features fast and easy check-in services, high quality onboard services and has recently partnered with Lotteria Vietnam to provide greater choices to its in-flight meal offering.
