SINGAPORE - Myanmar’s national carrier, Myanmar National Airlines (MNA), celebrated a momentous new chapter earlier today with the arrival of its Yangon-Singapore service at Changi Interntional Airport. The airline’s first international route in 22 years. With its much-anticipated service between the Lion City and Myanmar’s commercial centre taking flight, more people now have the opportunity to discover Myanmar as it welcomes the world through a growing network of destinations.

“We are pleased to now offer guests flying between Singapore and Yangon our top-class services aboard our new leading-edge Boeing 737-800NG,” said Captain Than Tun, Chief Executive Officer of MNA. “I would like to take this special opportunity to thank the people of Singapore and local airport authorities for their great support in helping MNA launch passenger flights to this dynamic city.”

“MNA is committed to providing streamlined travel experiences to Myanmar and beyond and we proudly invite passengers to fly with us for the journey of a lifetime and experience Myanmar’s unique warmth and culture,” added Captain Than Tun.

With the launch of the service, passengers will enjoy seamless connections to MNA’s current domestic network of 26 destinations - the most extensive of any Myanmar airline. MNA's booking system is hassle free and allows international travellers to book flights from Singapore to Yangon and connect to Myanmar’s most sought-after tourist attractions.

Boasting a rich legacy spanning more than 67 years, the airline recently unveiled its revitalised word-class services and operations. MNA made history in 2014 as the country’s first government operation to corporatise and subsequently underwent major operational upgrades to meet the latest international standards for safety, security and service.

In June 2015, it received the first in a series of new, state-of-the-art Boeing Next-Generation 737s joining its fleet. The first arrival is one of six Boeing Next-Generation 737-800s and four 737-Max 8s MNA ordered as part of a multi-million dollar strategy to re-invigorate its brand and signal the re-emergence of Myanmar as a competitive member of the global aviation market. On top of this, the airline is also adding six ATR 72-600s to service its domestic network, with the first two planes arriving this year.

In addition to the aircraft, MNA is rolling out its new brand across its whole fleet, launching refreshed services along with its new routes. The airline installed a state-of-the-art computerised management system for reservations and departure control processes as well as a new website providing electronic booking, payment, and seat selection - becoming the most efficient and advanced airline in the country.

Customers can now enjoy a seamless experience throughout their entire journey from check-in to arrival. Not only have all in-flight, airport, and sales staff undergone comprehensive training in line with international standards, but once on the aircraft, customers can expect an exceptionally clean, comfortable, and modern environment.

MNA's premium service is available in all cabin classes on-board its fleet of Next Generation aircraft, offering state-of-the-art in flight streaming entertainment system as well as high-quality catering and beverage services with both international and distinct Myanmar options:
Business Class –Sheer luxury of an ‘Executive Jet’ experience with unique Myanmar touches available at business class prices.
Premium Economy - Business class-quality seats featuring added leg-stretching comfort at Economy prices for guests flying on business or leisure travellers.

Using airstreamUB, MNA’s inflight entertainment system, guests are able to enjoy watching movies, TV shows and listen to music via in-seat monitors (Business Class only), on their own smartphone, tablet (iOS or Android), or laptop over a wireless connection onboard the aircraft. airstreamUB is available on the airline’s latest aircraft free of charge.

MNA also offers international travellers its signature Mingalabar Service, which provides priority check-in and boarding as well as fast track immigration and security services to ensure a smooth as possible experience at Yangon International Airport. On arrival, guests are met by one of MNA’s friendly team members at the aircraft door to provide assistance with bags, a helping hand with children, and even wheelchairs with compliments if required. They are then fast tracked through arrival formalities to their transport or waiting family and friends. Guests may also book the Mingalabar limo service to and from Yangon City. This offering is complimentary for passengers travelling in Business Class and available for an extra fee for those travelling in other cabins.

The national carrier also sports a new look inspired by the distinctive art and vibrant colours of Myanmar. The entire fleet is now emblazoned with livery depicting elegant swirls of bronze and burgundy as well as MNA’s logo of a golden lotus flower, emanating a spirit of peace, calm and clean. MNA has also established a distinct, elegant presence at airport check-ins, boarding gates and lounge areas everywhere it flies.
