CHIANG MAI  Chiang Mai-based Kan Air resumes services, today, on the Chiang Mai – U-Tapao route with three weekly flights.
Flights will operate on Monday, Thursday and Saturday using a 66-seat ATR 72-500 turboprop. inside no 2
inside no 2The service stopped, 15 June, after all the airline’s routes were taken off-line by the Department of Civil Aviation over a technicality.
The airline served the route for just a short period from 10 April to 15 June before ran into the operations snag.
DCA banned the airline from operating routes that were originally designated for charters and not scheduled services. Kan Air had previously applied for a permit based on proposed charters.
The DCA reviewed the airline’s application and ruled in favour of reinstating service, 20 July, under scheduled flights. However, it has taken the airline three months to revive the service to U-Tapao.
To qualify for a charter flight permit, Kan Air would have needed to sell tickets on a wholesale basis and not through retail channels, according to DCA.
The airline is now resuming services. The Chiang Mai-U-Tapao flight has an introductory fare of THB990, including airport taxes and fees.
