More airlines fly Chiang Mai

CHIANG MAI  More airlines are planning to launch services to Chiang Mai during the remainder of the year that will strengthen its status as the main aviation gateway to North Thailand.

China Southern Airlines will introduce three weekly flights on the Changsha-Chiang Mai route effective 21 June using an Airbus A320.

Chiang Mai is served by 33 airlines that offer services to  most major cities in Southeast Asia and some points in China.inside-no-4.1

Qatar Airways will extend its network to include a service to Chiang Mai, 16 December, this year. The airline will fly to Chiang Mai five times weekly via Yangon, in Myanmar from its home-base in Doha.  The service will use an A330-200.

Chiang Mai will be the airline’s fourth city in Thailand served from its Doha home-base. The other cities are Bangkok, Krabi and Phuket. The Krabi service will start 6 December.

With the addition of Krabi and Chiang Mai Qatar Airways will increase services to Thailand from 39 to 48 flights a week by the end of 2016. Qatar can offer one-stop services to from major cities in Europe to Thailand’s key destinations with convenient connections and a ground time of less than two hours in Doha.inside-no-4.2

Meanwhile, Thai AirAsia launched, daily flights connecting Chiang Mai to Changsha in China using A320, 27 May.inside-no-4.3

Bangkok Airways has also launched 10 weekly flights connecting Chiang Mai and Mae Hong Son that started 2 April.

The short 30-minute hop uses an ATR72-500 or ATR72-600, operating daily services; two flights on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday and a single flight on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.inside-no-4.4 inside no 4 sourced:ttrweekly.com
