HONG KONG HK Express celebrates its third birthday, this week, claiming it has become the fastest growing airlines in Hong Kong based on its latest passenger traffic data and network expansion.

It is adding new services in November to Nha Trang in Vietnam and Chiang Rai, in far North Thailand this month.

Expansion follows in December and January with flights to Taiwan, Saipan and Guam.

inside no 8So far this year, the low-fare airline has produced more than 68,000 seats on average per week, representing a 37.7% year-on-year growth between January and August 2016.

The airline adopted the low-cost business model in 2013 and since then it has flown 2,149,489 passengers.

Overall, low-fare airlines contribute 10% of total the seats at Hong Kong International Airport, or approximately 750,000 seats per month of which 40% of those seats  are  generated by Hong Kong Express.

The airline currently serves 25 destinations. New routes such a service to Hualien, Taiwan, starts 6 December followed by Guam, 15 December 2016 and Saipan, 17 January 2017.

In Southeast Asia new routes start this month with a service to Nha Trang in Vietnam, 9 November and Chiang Rai, 25 November.

To keep up with the expanding route network and passenger numbers, HK Express has grown its fleet to 16 aircraft, with one brand new A321 due to be delivered next week.

The low-fare airline has a further 23 brand new aircraft on order; 11 more A321’s and 12 A320neo’s.
