Thailand’s airport traffic improves 3%

BANGKOK Airports of Thailand reports strong increases in both aircraft movements and passenger traffic at six airports under its management during November.

AoT reported, late last week, that all of its supervised airports handled 9,768,489 passengers an increase of 3.08% from 9,476,683 when compared with the November last year.

The figure represents passenger movements ; boarding, alighting and transiting.

inside no 4Overall, aircraft movements also increased by 7.12% from 62,410 to 66,854.

During the first 11 months of the year, Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport handled 50.74 million passengers followed by Don Mueang with 32.04 million and Phuket 13.66 million. Chiang Mai Airport handled 8.51 million passengers.

November highlights

Suvarnabhumi Airport registered a slight decline of 0.95% in international aircraft movements from 20,875 to 20,676, while domestic movements grew 13.75% from  5,882 to 6,691.

International passenger traffic decreased 3.63% from 3,683,339 to 3,549,506, while domestic passengers increased 14.47% from 738,792 to 845,714. Overall, it accounted for a 12.81% increase in passenger movements from 7,858,027 to 8,864,909.

The second aviation gateway, Don Mueang Airport, recorded a 3.86% increase in international aircraft movements from 5,835 to 6,060. Domestic movements posted an improvement of 9.53% from 13,716 to 15,023.

International passenger traffic increased 1.87% from 860,080 to 876,200, while domestic passengers increased 4.33% from 1,879,728 to 1,961,091.

Chiang Mai International Airport continued to show growth in November. International aircraft movements registered an increase of 7.01% (1,326 to 1,419), while domestic aircraft movements increased 16.32% (3,953 to 4,598).

International passenger traffic dropped 3.94% from 160,418 to 154,093, while domestic traffic gained 11.26% from 596,626 to 663,780.

Phuket International Airport registered an increase of 7.06% in international aircraft movements from 3,659 to 3,937, while domestic aircraft movements improved 18.65% from 3,791 to 4,498.

International passenger traffic increased 6.87% from 578,607 to 618,330, while domestic improved 10.66% from 512,848 to 567,523.

Chiang Rai International Airport reported an improvement of 11.50% of overall aircraft movements from 1,304 to 1,454, while passenger traffic grew 15.67% from 170,169 to 196,828.

Hat Yai International Airport reported an overall aircraft movement improved 20.73% from 2,069 to 2,498 in November. Meanwhile, overall passenger traffic registered a 13.29% increase from 296,076 to 335,424 passengers.    inside-no-41
