Mandalay adds new shopping mall

MANDALAY Mandalay Yatanar Mall will open by April next year adding a up-market shopping option for tourists visiting the country’s second largest city.
The Global New Light of Myanmar media said the Mandalay Yatanar Mall would showcase Myanmar-made jewellery, silk products and handicrafts as well as branded shopping items.
The mall, on the second floor of Yadanabon Super Centre, at the corner of 78th and 34th streets in Chanayethazan Township, will have 389 shops to showcase gold and gemstones, Myanmar handicrafts, silk, and mosaic paintings.
The mall, slated to open on 1 April, 2016, will also include banks and money changers, the report said.

The city attracted 464,577 foreign tourists in 2014, an increase of 60,385 over the previous year. Most of the tourists came from China, South Korea and Japan.
Currently Bangkok Airways, THAI Smile, SilkAir, Golden Myanmar, AirAsia, China Eastern Airlines and Myanmar Airways International operate regional flights connecting Mandalay to Bangkok, Singapore, Kunming in China and Gaya in India.
