HCMC taxis get their own app

HO CHI MINH CITY, 18 September 2015: Ho Chi Minh City’s 27-7 Taxi Cooperative will launch a cab-hailing app called “Life app” at the end of this month to offer more choices for locals and visitors.

The application is similar to GrabTaxi and Uber, both of which were introduced to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi commuters, last year.
The Life app will allow passengers to hail a registered taxi on their smartphones and should be available for download, 30 September, according to a Tuoi Tre News report.

However, the application will be limited to Android devices.
inside no 1The application gives details of the fare and estimated time of arrival of the booked taxi plus driver’s name and car ID .
Payment is in cash to the driver.
Last May, the Ho Chi Minh City-based Vinasun Corporation launched its Vinasun App in several southern and central provinces and cities.
In addition, several taxi companies in Hanoi are creating their own mobile apps for cab hailing so they can compete with Uber and GrabTaxi.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Transport last month revealed its plan of creating its own Uber-like car booking service, promising that it will only collaborate with licensed companies.
