PHNOM PENH The State Secretariat of Civil Aviation says three more airlines wlll apply for an Air Operator Certificate over the first quarter of 2015.
The SSCA general director, Kao Sivorn, told local media that three carriers have applied with an intention of serving regional routes, but declined to identify the airlines.
“At least one airline will submit its AOC application early this year and two more will follow…it will require around four months to make an evaluation of the airlines to ensure they meet SSCA’s requirements.”
inside no 4The Phnom Penh Post quoted the SSCA spokesman Sin Chansereyvutha as saying that the new airlines are backed by investors from China and Taiwan.
“The airlines are small to medium operators. They have at least two aircraft,” he said.
The new airlines will join the growing number of Chinese-backed fliers in Cambodia, that includes Bassaka Air, Apsara International Air and Bayon Airlines, all of which received their AOC’s last year.
