PHNOM PENH – The Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia will organize a six-day Nokor Sangkranta celebration in April aimed at promoting Khmer culture and boosting the national economy.

Observed annually from April 14 to 16, Khmer New Year marks a key period for family reunions, as workers return to their hometowns. Beyond a public holiday, the festival represents a celebration of heritage, renewal and national identity.

UYFC President Hun Many, who also serves as deputy prime minister, said the event, scheduled from April 14 to 19, is not only a celebration of national traditions but also an effort to strengthen national identity through religious ceremonies, food, traditional games and other cultural activities.

Speaking to journalists on March 2, he said Cambodia can use the occasion to reinforce the Khmer spirit while stimulating economic activity.
