SIEM REAP  Siem Reap International Airport received 3 million domestic and international passengers in 2014, an increase of 13% year-on-year.
Cambodia Airports CEO, Emmanual Menanteau, said in a statement that the 3 million mark represented a symbolic high point, as the airport received just 2 million passengers in 2012.
“Two years ago, Siem Reap Airport welcomed its 2 million passengers and it has now started a new chapter in its history by passing the 3-million mark.”

To cope with the steady increase, Cambodia Airports started an extension programme January 2014 to expand the airport’s terminal and double its capacity. It will open in 2016.
Siem Reap is the gateway town for the UNESCO World Heritage site’s Angkor Archaeological Park, which is now the kingdom’s largest cultural tourist destination on the outskirts of town.
