Next week sees the start of the sixth annual Angkor Photo Festival, welcoming photographers and artists from across Asia to the Angkor Photo Gallery from November 20. Angkor, famed for the huge temple complex Angkor Wat, is already Cambodia's best-known destination - over a million people visit every year to marvel at the complex, the largest religious structure on the planet.
It's believed that visits to Cambodia are growing at a rate of 25 to 30 percent annually, climbing from just over a million in 2004 to well over two million in 2008 and expected to go even higher this year. In 2008, the most recent year for which statistics are available, Koreans accounted for the majority of visitors, followed by Vietnamese, Japanese, Americans and Chinese.
