Experience a microcosm during adventure travel in Cambodia

22 Nov 2010  2043 | Cambodia Travel News

Visitors experiencing adventure travel in Cambodia can take in the sight of a microcosm in the form of Angkor Wat. A microcosm is a miniature world – and it is believed that is what the temple at Angkor Wat is intended to represent. Tourism Cambodia explains that the towers, concentric walls and moats of the place of worship are thought to be an in-miniature interpretation of the wider universe.

Meanwhile, human history is also represented in the design of the location, with battle scenes reproduced in bas-relief. The temple is a popular destination for many people during adventure travel in Cambodia and has been a place of worship ever since it was first created. Dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu, it is the centrepiece of Angkor Archaeological Park, which contains hundreds of other temples, schools and villages. However, it is not only a region of history, as many local people still live and work in the area.
