PHNOM PENH More Korean tourists will travel to Cambodia as the country opens up its aviation markets and the ASEAN economic community encourages free trade.
Asiana Airlines’s Cambodia manager, Cho Jae-Ung, told the Phnom Penh Post that even though the aviation market in Cambodia was still small, the airline hopes that in three to five years it will flourish, driven by the ASEAN Economic Community.
“There will be strong cooperation within ASEAN and also with China, Japan and South Korea which will increase air travel.”
He added: “But there is still a lot of progress to be made in the aviation industry in Cambodia.”

He cited: “Today, we serve Cambodia with a small aircraft, carrying only 171 passengers, but when demand picks up we will introduce larger aircraft and more flights to serve Korean travellers wishing to visit Cambodia.”
In the first six months of this year, Asiana Airlines flew around 98,000 passengers to Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, the report said.
Asiana Airlines started direct flights to Cambodia in 2005 offering three weekly flights to Siem Reap and daily to Phnom Penh.
