The three international airports in Cambodia said they successfully completed a carbon reduction program set out by the Airports Council International (ACI), a framework introduced in 2009 aimed at reducing greenhouse emissions.

Eric Delobel, CEO of Cambodia Airports, said that being a pioneer and a leader in being environmentally friendly was a key objective for Cambodia Airports.

“Doubling down the ACA program, we are currently working on an Environment Management System to be certified ISO 14001 by the end of the year,” Mr Delobel said.

“Since we began operating in Cambodia, environmental actions all put together with societal and social ones have been one of the three pillars of our corporate social responsibility policy,” he added.

The program, independently verified, has four levels of certification – mapping, reduction, optimisation and neutrality.

The accreditation results from the successful mapping of all CO2 emissions at the airports in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville, according to Cambodia Airports.
