The rapidly growing medical and pharmaceutical industries in the Kingdom will take the spotlight in September with the fourth edition of the Cambodia-Phar-Med fair.
The three-day trade fair, which will start September 5 at Phnom Penh’s Diamond Island Convention Centre, is expected to attract about 80 exhibitors from 10 different countries.
It will centre on diagnostics and testing, pharmaceuticals, and rehabilitation, among others, said Nguyen Ba Vinh, director general of Minh Vi Exhibition and Advertising Service, the exhibition organiser.
Mr Nguyen explained that the fair will serve as a platform from which to discover the latest innovations in the medical field, while giving attendees a chance to meet other professionals and expand their networks.
The fair will showcase a wide range of pharmaceutical and medical products, from standard hospital equipment to medicine packaging machinery, dental equipment and supplies and disinfection and disposal systems.
“There is great potential for increasing the market in Cambodia as major local pharmaceutical importers are eager to import qualified products, and Cambodian consumers are keen to consume high quality medical products from abroad,” Mr Nguyen said.
“The health care industry must evolve along with the economy as more and more people start to demand higher standards of healthcare services.
“Now living standards in Cambodia are rising, so the people need better medical care,” he added.
Erng Kosal, general manager of Indochina Pharma Company, said the trend of importing drugs and other pharmaceutical products has been on the rise in recent years. He said he mostly imports over-the-counter medication from Vietnam, India and Cuba.
