The European Union (EU) should not falter in its support of the government’s target to transform the country into a higher middle-income nation by 2030, said the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) last week.
Veng Sakhon, Minister of Agriculture made the call during the awards ceremony for the Outstanding Animal Demonstrators under the Sustainable Agriculture Growth Program on Friday.
The event was organised by the Embassy of European Union in Cambodia.
“I would like to express my profound thanks to the European Union for helping Cambodia to develop in all fields, especially agriculture.
“I hope and believe that the EU will keep supporting the government in its vision to transform Cambodia into a higher middle-income nation,” Mr Sokhon said.
The Sustainable Agriculture Growth Program and the fisheries sub-sector and animal production sub-sector programme, funded by a European Union grant of EUR26 million, is a five-year programme – 2013 to 2018 – that promotes sustainable socio-economic growth.
George Edgar, EU Ambassador to Cambodia said, “In the field of agriculture, animal husbandry is an important sub-sector after rice.
