SmartSpark: A new entrepreneurship program to tackle the SDGs

Impact Hub Phnom Penh and Smart Axiata on Saturday launched SmartSpark, a new entrepreneurship program dedicated to building meaningful social ventures that can contribute to the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

At the launch event at Impact Hub Phnom Penh, over 130 attendees also gained insights from Agribuddy, People in Need, WaterSHED, Friends International, Phare and Oxfam about social challenges and ventures in Cambodia.

Spanning three years and with a total of nine cohorts, SmartSpark will incubate a total of 54 impact ventures, each one focusing on a different set of SDGs.

SmartSpark will tailor the support, expertise, mentoring and network to provide the teams with the best chance of success.

Smart Axiata and Impact Hub Phnom Penh will carefully select six of the teams with the most innovative ideas with the potential for a real impact on the SDGs.

The first cohort is launching this week, with applications open until September 10th. Interested candidates can apply online via http://bit.ly/smartsparkcambodia. The candidates must be young Cambodians with the drive and ambition to tackle the following SDGs: No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health & Well-being, and Clean Water & Sanitation. There will also be a mini-hackathon where interested applicants can ideate, create teams, and discuss solutions with industry experts.
