The competition, which is being held this year for the first time, it’s a yearly event to determine the best restaurants in the country that specialise in local dishes.

Winners will be chosen based on the presentation and taste of their dishes.

According to Chhay Sivlin, president of the Cambodia Association of Travel Agents, the purpose of the new competition is to enhance the quality of the local food offer to lure more tourists into the country and make them stay longer.

“The contest will help restaurant increase the quality of their dishes and their service, and will allow them to promote their establishments to a wider audience,” he said.

Kim Sereyroath, director of the Department for the Management of Tourism Services and Food, said the contest aims to establish model restaurants that will inspire other restaurant owners to bump up quality.
