Cambodian Premier Launches World Most Beautiful Bay

Cambodia’s coastline in four provinces has been announced as the world most beautiful bay under chairmanship by Prime Minister Samdech Akka Monha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen yesterday.The official launching was held after the Club of the World’s Most Beautiful Bays officially recognized Cambodia’s coastal area as its member in mid-2011.
“It is a new point of Cambodia’s coastal area and will be a main tourism destination of the country. It is a potential destination for ecotourism and makes Cambodia’s tourism sector more competitive in the region, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said.
According to Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s speech in the ceremony, there are 117 investment projects worth US$10,701 million being approved in the costal area. It is about 41.6% of the whole investment projects in the country. The number of foreign tourists visiting the coastal area in 5 month early this year reached 90,000 up 7.5% and the figure is expected to rise to 180,000 tourists this year.
Cambodian coastline stretches around 440 km in four provinces such as Koh Kong, Preah Sihanouk, Kampot and Kep.Tourism industry is one of the main four pillars supporting Cambodia’s economic growth. In 2010, the sector received 2.5 million foreign visitors, generating, a state revenue of US$ 1.75 billion.
