Cambodia, Vietnam To Sign Trafficking Agreement

Cambodia and Vietnam will sign an agreement to standardize and improve procedures for the identification and repatriation of victims of human trafficking, the Ministry of Social Affairs said yesterday. Hav Bun Se, secretary of state of the Social Affairs Ministry and Senior Lieutenant-General Le Them Tiem, Vice-minister of Vietnam?s Ministry of Public Security and vice-chair of Vietnam?s Standing committee 130 on Anti-trafficking, will meet today to sign the agreement, a statement from the Social Affairs Ministry said. The agreement would establish ?victim-centered join operating procedures that describe standard procedural roles and responsibilities?to identify and repatriate victims.? Thong Chamroeun, deputy director of the social workers department at the Social Affairs Ministry, said the agreement would supplement a similar agreement from 2005.
