Gap year travellers hoping to travel around south-east Asia may be interested to know that three countries there are planning to work together.
In an attempt to attract visitors and boost their tourism industries, Malaysia, Indonesia and Cambodia aim to complement each other.
It is hoped that Malaysia?s Trial of Civilisation concept, which features world heritage sites recognised by Unesco, will also attract people to the other regions.
Malaysia?s tourism minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen, said: "The government will provide all the facilities. However, the tourism operators, the airline companies, hoteliers and other parties have to play their active roles."
She added that cooperation between Malaysia and Indonesia is already in place and they are looking forward to working with Cambodia soon.
Celebrity chef Rick Stein recently identified the area of Langkawi in Malaysia as his ideal holiday destination due to its beauty and "marvellous mix" of cuisine.
