In 2012, the number of the foreign arrivals through Preah Sihanouk International Seaport, Preah Sihanouk province, some 230 southwest of Phnom Penh capital city, saw an increase by 56.30 percent if compared to that of 2011, Mr. Seng Kha, Director of Tourism Provincial Department said.

“In the whole year 2012, a total of 42 tour cruise-ships docked at Preah Sihanouk International Seaport with some 23,517 multi-national tourists on board, while in 2011 there were only 27 cruise-ships with some 15,000 tourists,” he said.

Mr. Seng Kha attributed the increase to the full stability, peace and safety in the country; the high attention from provincial authorities, especially in facilitating formalities, the visit and in organizing different events to attract tourists; and the dissemination of Cambodian coastal zones’ potentialities abroad.

Moreover, with the open sky policy of the Royal Government of Cambodia, we expect to receive more visitors this year, he added.
