Machinery and garment expos kick off in Phnom Penh

23 Aug 2019  2106 | Business & Trade Fairs

Held August 22-25, the expos will attract exhibitors from 15 countries displaying a broad range of innovative products and versatile solutions.

CIMIF is the most comprehensive exhibition in Cambodia, covering plastic, packaging, printing, agriculture, auto part and accessories, machine tools, hardware and tools, energy and electricity engineering, and lighting.

CTG, on the other hand, is the only trade fair in the Kingdom dedicated to the textile and garment industry, featuring all the crucial aspects of the industry, such as textile machinery and accessories, apparel machinery and accessories, fibers, filaments, yarn, and fabrics.

With numerous quality international exhibitors, trade visitors can easily locate optimal suppliers of whatever products they need through this one-stop business trading event, said Sun Senghout, under-secretary of state at the Ministry of Industry and Handicraft.

“The main purpose of organising the event is to boost industrial development and attract foreign investors to Cambodia. Particularly, we seek to create opportunities for manufacturers to improve their machinery through new business partnerships,” Mr Senghout said in the event’s opening speech yesterday.

“Entrepreneurs will learn about the latest technology and machinery. This knowledge will help them grow and expand,” he said.

John Cha, executive committee member of the Garment Manufacturers Association in Cambodia, said GMAC always encourages member factories to invest in the latest machinery and technology available to improve productivity and enhance competitiveness.

“This year’s exhibition comes at a critical juncture for the industry. We are facing several challenges – rising labour costs, lack of productivity, and digitalisation and automation as a result of Industry 4.0,” Mr Cha said.

“By adopting state-of-the-art technology, we can enhance productivity and quality as well as communicate seamlessly with buyers and other networks. We can respond to the market very quickly and become more competitive.”
