Virgin Samoa stays celibate on US route

Virgin Samoa said the timing is not right to operate flights between the island nation and the United States.

Samoa’s Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi has revealed that Virgin Samoa would not fly to either Hawaii or the US mainland, the Samoa Government newspaper Savali reported.

The Prime Minister said the US route had been a ’graveyard’ for airlines in the past.

Air New Zealand suspended direct flights from Apia to Los Angeles two years ago citing financial losses.

Air Pacific currently operates a weekly service between Apia and Honolulu.
