British Airways rejuvenate aircraft

British Airways will invest ?5 billion in new and upgraded aircraft, revealing the cabin design and layout of its Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A380 aircraft.

24 Dreamliners and 12 A380s will feature new Club World 2:3:2 configurations, the latest production of World Traveller and World Traveller Plus seats and elegant cabin designs.

16 of the 24 Dreamliners on order will be 787-9s and could have three or four-cabin configurations.

British Airways will take delivery of the first of the new long-haul aircraft in less than six months, with its inaugural Dreamliner set to arrive in May and A380s due in July 2013.

“We now have six Boeing 777-300ERs all fitted with our latest cabins,” International Airlines Group (IAG) chief executive Willie Walsh said.

“The nine new aircraft we take delivery of in 2013 will feature our latest signature designs to ensure the customer experience maintains the highest standard across our fleet.”

The planes will also feature the airline’s popular Thales in-flight entertainment system, providing customers a greater range of movies, television shows, music and audio programs.
