California Tourism Helps Dreams Come True

11 Aug 2010  2039 | World Travel News

California Tourism joined forces with Women’s Health, Men’s Health and Prevention magazines to compete as part of a team of 100 race goers running in the weekend’s 2010 Sun‐Herald City 2 Surf.

The team took part in the 14km race from Sydney to Bondi Beach to raise funds for the Layne Beachley Aim for the Stars Foundation, a charity created to inspire girls and women across Australia to dream and achieve.

As an incentive, California Tourism offered a trip for two to Northern California to the team member who raised the most money.

Penny Brand was announced as the winner by charity founder Layne Beachley at a post‐race function held at Bondi Social. Raising $1610, Penny took home return economy airfares for two flying United, five nights accommodation at the Sheraton Fisherman’s Wharf, tour passes for Urban Safari and entry into the 2011 Bay to Breakers race.

The runner‐up, Joel Trethowan, received two seven‐day ski passes for Heavenly Ski Resort. As a group, the team raised more than $6,000 for their efforts.
