HALONG BAY, VIETNAM Halong Bay cruise operator, Bhaya Group, has just completed a renovation of two of its luxury vessels, collectively known as The Au Co.
A redesign of the two ships’ combined 64 cabins was completed along with a revamp of on-board facilities, including a new reception area, restaurant, cocktail bar, library and on-board cinema.
The two leisure ships are used for three-day, two-night cruises featuring a stop at Cat Ba Island for mountain biking.
Previously, The Au Co was able to visit the more remote parts of Halong Bay for one-day excursions only.
“Every year our twin ships undergo a month-long refurbishment, but after four years in operation, we were looking to offer our passengers something different – an on-board experience that captures both traditional Vietnamese and modern luxury styles,” said Bhaya Group managing director, Ly Thuy Huynh Nhu.
Part of the refit focused on engine and safety checks as well as modifications, such as relocating the exhaust pipe from the top to the rear of the vessel to minimise engine noise on the decks
The two ships offer Tai Chi sessions, traditional dance performances in the evening and an emphasis on traditional Vietnamese cuisine.
“This year, for the first time, we have put the focus of the renovation on re-inventing the cruise experience for our guests,” added Ly Thuy Huynh Nhu. “The new look boats will further strengthen Bhaya Cruises as the leading luxury provider on the waters of Halong Bay.”
