Tourism promotion festival for central region held in Borikhamsay

The central Borikhamsay province will open the 4th tourism promotion festival for central provinces at Phabathphonsanh temple, Thaphabath district, on Saturday.The festival to continue till 19 January is held by this central province in collaboration with the Lao National Tourism Administration.

The first festival was held in Savannakhet province, the second in Vientiane province, and the third in Khammouane province.Besides the tourism promotion in the central provinces, the event is also to conserve the Lao traditional culture, life style of ethnic people in a sustainable way, promote sports, and art performances. This activity is one of many events aiming at attracting more domestic and overseas tourists to the country.

The tourist promotion festival is also designed to survey and set a priority for tourist development with the participation of local people. Improvements will be made, which vary from the installation of tourist signs, improvement of road access to tourist sites, parking area and relax places.The linkage of five central provinces is to translate the strategy on tourism development till 2020 by focusing on the tourism development of natural, historical and cultural sites.

The festival will promote the campaign of “Lao people visit Laos” which is a part of the promotion for investment in hotels, guesthouses, restaurants and handicraft production, agriculture and household utensils.
