BANGKOK TTR Weekly wishes all of readers a very happy festive season.
We will take a short break for Christmas, 24 to 26 December, resuming our daily news 27 December until 30 December, when offices close for the New Year holiday, 31 December to 3 January.
The holiday season, Christmas and New Year, is the best time of the year to tour North Thailand.
Promoted for its cool “spring like” cool weather in the low 20s to 10 degree centigrade, Thailand’s north and northeast provinces attract thousands of Thais and foreigners keen to escape the heat and humidity of the Thai capital.
You can catch Thailand’s short “winter,” which is really a mild spring for Europeans and North Asian visitors in the mountain and hill-country resorts of Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Lampang, Phayao, Nan and Pai in Mae Hong Son province.
Whether you head for the hills, or beaches, take care on the roads. There is an on-going campaign to reduce accidents on Thailand’s notoriously dangerous roads during the holiday season and drunk drivers are on the radar.
So make Thailand a safer place by drinking responsibly and handing over the wheel to a non-drinker if you are in the mood for a party tipple.
