BANGKOK Airports of Thailand reports strong increases in both aircraft movements and passenger traffic at the six airports under its management during June this year.
AoT reported Monday, that all of its supervised airports served 9,826,105 passengers, up 10.73% from 8,874,089 when compared with the same month last year.
Of that total, 4,917,045 were disembarking passengers (+11.05% from 4,427,833); 4,829,561 embarking (+10.54% from 4,368,875) and 79,499 transiting (+2.74% from 77,381).
Overall, aircraft movements also increased by 5.39% from 61,959 to 65,300.
For the first six months of the year, Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport handled 30.29 million passengers followed by Don Mueang with 18.87 million and Phuket 8.44 million. Chiang Mai Airport handled 5 million passengers.
June highlights
Suvarnabhumi Airport registered a slight increase of 2.68% in international aircraft movements from 20,370 to 20,916, while domestic aircraft movements grew 14.05% from 5,907 to 6,737 movements.
International passenger traffic increased 9.28% from 3,346,785 to 3,657,211. Of that total, 1,824,627 passengers were disembarking (+9.81%; 1,661,587); 1,762,401 embarking (+8.82%; 1,619,486); and 70,183 transiting (+6.80%; 65,712).
Domestic passengers grew 23.42% from 648,951 to 800,937.
The second aviation gateway, Don Mueang Airport, recorded an 18.37% increase in international aircraft movements from 6,044 to 7,154. Domestic movements posted a slight decline of 1.92% from 13,362 to 13,106.
International passenger traffic increased 21.47% from 943,191 to 1,145,733. Of that total, 577,732 were disembarking (+22.40%; 472,008); 565,142 embarking (+21.93%; 463,512); and 2,859 transiting (-62.73%; 7,671).
Domestic passengers increased 1.79% from 1,773,155 to 1,804,874.
Chiang Mai International Airport reported international aircraft movements registered a decline of 1.49% (1,405 to 1,384), while domestic aircraft movements decreased 1.90% (4,098 to 4,020).
International passenger traffic increased 0.23% from 167,255 to 167,638. Of that total, 82,692 were disembarking (-3.44%; 85,636); 82,714 embarking (+3.35%; 80,035); and 2,232 transiting (+40.91%; 1,584).
Domestic traffic gained 5.58% from 535,251 to 565,107.
Phuket International Airport registered improved of 11.83% in international aircraft movements from 3,601 to 4,027, while domestic aircraft movements grew 9.93% from 3,815 to 4,194.
International passenger traffic increased 17.97% from 530,777 to 626,156. Of that total, 316,729 were disembarking (+17.90%; 268,635); 307,098 embarking (+17.27%; 261,882); and 2,329 transiting (+795.77%; 260).
