Japan has more to offer than people expect said Hankyu Travel assistant sales manager Hiroko Murakoshi at the DMS Annual Workshop in Sydney this week.Ms Murakoshi told e-Travel Blackboard people do not realise the variety Japan has to offer and that it is actually an affordable destination.“Because we are competing with other Asian countries people think that Japan is expensive,” she said.
At the DMS workshop “I just want to tell people that it is a beautiful country, it is affordable and there is a lot to do there”.Whether travellers are looking to relax, indulge in the country’s heritage or ski down snowy mountains Japan has everything on hand Ms Murakoshi said.
Traditional customs in Japan are among the most popular ‘to do’ activities in Japan according to the sales manager with the Japanese Tea Ceremony as well as Geisha and ninja dress ups attracting a high number of visitors.
“Wearing a kimono or ninja costume is very popular in Japan, people can dress up and walk around in the streets,” Ms Murakoshi said.“Other attractions are a tuna cutting show, sushi lessons, cycling tours in Kyoto but eating and preparing Japanese food is also very entertaining and popular.”
Ms Murakoshi said that while Japan’s main markets are Germany and France the company is always looking to attract tourists from other parts of Europe and Australia.Hankyu Travel attended the DMS Annual Workshop held in Sydney on 10 February to discuss prices and group bookings with buyers in Australia.
