PB Air suspends services

19 Nov 2009  2115 | World Travel News

PB Air has suspended all services claiming it has no suitable aircraft to operate. Airline executives were not available to provide details on the suspension, or how the airline intends to acquire suitable aircraft to resume services.

However, the suspension comes at a time when tourists are booking winter season holidays in Thailand and it will undermine confidence in the airline?s ability to serve travel agency needs.

The lease deal on two ATR72s owned by Bangkok Airways ended 31 October and Bangkok Airways has not renewed the contract because it needs aircraft to meet high season commitments.

Earlier, PB Air reported that it expected to take delivery of two Saab 340s leased from AeroCentury, a California-based aircraft leasing and financing firm.

The airline planned to extend the lease deal on the ATRs to operate its trunks routes and use Saab aircraft for low density routes.

PB Air officials continue to be unavailable for comment.
