THE Singapore Tourism Board is 'extremely optimistic' about achieving record-breaking tourist arrivals and tourism receipts in 2011.
Its assistant chief executive, Ms Melissa Ow, said on Wednesday that Singapore was set to meet its forecast of between 12 and 13 million visitors and tourism receipts of between $22 and $24 billion for this year.If the target is met, it would exceed last year's record 11.6 million visitors and some $18.9 billion in tourism receipts.
The industry will continue to boom, said Ms Ow, because of Singapore's robust line-up of new tourism developments.Upcoming attractions include the Marine Life Park and Maritime Xperiential Museum at Resorts World Sentosa, the Gardens by the Bay in Marina Bay and the River Safari in Mandai.
Ms Ow was speaking at the opening of the Asian Attractions Expo, a four-day trade show for the attractions industry in Asia, which is organised by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions.
