Lao Airlines will open a new route, mid-April, serving Pakse in southern Laos, Savannakhet in the central region and Danang in Vietnam.
Vietnam press reported that Danang’s Department of Culture , Sports and Tourism and Lao Airlines have agreed on rights for the airline to start the Pakse-Savannakhet – Danang service in mid-April in time for the traditional Lao New Year celebrations.
The route will be operated three times a week —Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, using a 65-seat ATR72 aircraft.
The flight will start from Pakse at 0900, stop in Savannakhet to pick up passengers before taking off to Danang and arriving at the final destination at 1140. The plane will return at 1410 and land in Pakse around 1700.
Lao Airlines said passengers would be mainly Vietnamese living in and around Savannakhet. There is an estimated 7000 Vietnamese living in the area.
From 7 to 10 March, 30, representatives from tourism companies in Vientiane, Pakse and Savannakhet in Laos, and Mukdahan in Thailand will join a Lao Airlines familiarisation trip to Danang to survey attractions.
