Private jet base takes shape

A private jet terminal project under construction at Don Mueang Airport is almost complete. Once open it will encourage private corporate jets to use Bangkok as a base.

MJETS is a fixed-based operator which negotiated a concession from the Airports of Thailand to handle services for general aviation aircraft at Don Mueang Airport, which includes a private corporate aircraft centre.

MJETS managing director, Jaiyavat Navaraj, told TTR Weekly that the project is in the soft-launch phase and will not gain traction until an aircraft hangar is completed this May.

The company will offer ground handling services on a 24 hour basis. The private jet terminal, located at VIP building on the northern side of the airport, has immigration and customs on-site, a baggage service, a 186 sqm passenger lounge, business centre, shower facility, flight planning centre, pilots? briefing room, crew lounger, free wireless internet connectivity.

Aircraft technical services include jet parking, ramp handling, refueling, portable water service, ground power unit, aircraft cleaning, line and light maintenance and lavatory service.

MJETS also operates private jet charters to both domestic and regional destinations. Currently, it has a fleet of three aircraft:

? Piper Malibu Mirage for two to four passengers, to cover Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam (south of Hanoi);

? Cessna Citation CJ3, for up to seven persons, covering Southeast Asian cities except Jakarta, Taipei, Hong Kong, China?s Guangzhou, Maldives, Mumbai and Kolkata

? Cessna Citation X, with eight seats, capable of reaching Perth in Australia, Pakistan, Dubai, Korea, Japan and China.
