BANGKOK, Aug 24 (Bernama) - A latest survey has revealed the general public is satisfied with the first year performance of the Pheu Thai Party-led government, with respondents giving 7.63 out of 10 scores.
Thanawat Polvichai, director of the Economic and Business Forecasting Centre from the University of Thai Chamber of Commerce, said that most respondents were happy with the administration's economic stimulus policies to cope with the European Union economic crisis and impacts from massive flooding late last year.
Respondents were also most impressed with the government's tourism promotion and preparation for the formation of the Single Economic Community of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) by 2015, Thai News Agency reported.
A majority of people surveyed gave the government 7.17 points for education and tourism promotion, 6.71 for policy implementation, 5.90 points for solutions to expensive raw materials, 5.02 for narcotic suppression, and 4.99 points for corruption solutions.
However, respondents have expressed dissatisfaction with the government's political administration and social affairs.
Polvichai suggested that the Thai government speed up its infrastructure investments and water management mega projects in its second year of administration to stimulate national economy further.
