Singapore Airlines (SQ) passenger load factor has increased across all regions, coupled with a rise in system-wide passenger carriage during the month of June 2012 compared to the same month last year.

SQ’s passenger load factor (PLF) rose more than 4 percent year-on-year to 83 percent, while passenger carriage increased by almost 12 percent over the same period.

According to June 2012 operating results, the number of total passengers carried increased by 9.8 percent to 1.5 million.

“June saw the start of the summer travel peak season and PLF strengthened across all regions. Passenger carriage growth outstripped capacity growth in all regions as demand was boosted by promotional activities,” it was revealed in the release.

Singapore Airlines wholly owned subsidiary, SilkAir reported an increase of nearly 25 percent in system-wide passenger carriage, year-on-year.

The carrier’s passenger load factor dropped by almost half a percentage point for the month compared to last year.

According to the results revealed, “growth in traffic failed to match the capacity increase.”

SilkAir launched scheduled services to Hanoi on 5 June 2012.
