Sea festival to take place in Koh Kong

The seventh Sea Festival will be held in Koh Kong province in December, serving as a platform from which to introduce local tourism products to domestic and international travellers.

The Sea Festival, an annual tourism event held at one of the four coastal provinces on a rotation basis, is expected to attract approximately 300,000 visitors, Tourism Minister Thong Khon said on Tuesday.

Mr Khon encouraged local businesses to partake in the event, saying it will allow them to showcase their products and services to both local and international visitors.

Chhay Sivlin, president of the Cambodia Association of Travel Agents, said more locals can now afford to travel to Kep for the event, which makes visitor numbers grow every year.

“More and more domestic tourists are attending the event every year. This is probably due to an increase in incomes.

“With higher incomes and more creative tourism products available, locals are travelling more,” Ms Sivlin said.
